Nurse Educator / Coordinator (part-time/days/8) - Seward, AK

POSITION SUMMARY: Nurse Educator / Coordinator
Responsiblefor hospital unit based education program planning, development andimplementation. This includes, but is not limited to: validating requirededucational needs and competencies for staff; developing training programs andprocesses; oversight of preceptorship program; ensuring staff education recordsare maintained; and, keeping leadership team informed of staff education needs.
May work in conjunction with Providence Seward Mountain Haven Nurse Educator onprojects, orientation, and education of staff. Able to teach, or arrange coursesthat are required for competency (i.e. ACLS, PALS, etc.). Flexibility inscheduling is required for meeting the educational needs of staff on all shifts.

Hospital Based Work:
1. Developsand operationalizes effective methods of educating patient care staff so theypossess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes requisite for safe, competent andeffective patient care practice.
2. Coordinatescompetency based orientation programs for new hires/transfers, may work withProvidence Alaska Learning Institute's (PALI) to facilitate goals.
3. Collaborateswith other key stakeholders when developing, updating, and maintaining policiesand procedures basing them on most current evidence.

Unit Based Work:
10. Assesseseducation needs of staff upon hire, or transfer to facility, and on an annualbasis. In collaboration with staff members, develops individualized educationplans for staff.
11. Monitorsfor complete, accurate and up-to-date education records for unit staff. Keeps leadership team informed of staffprogress.
12. Assistsin the development, implementation, and evaluation of the unit basededucational program.
13. Performs otherrelated duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalentCombination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
2. Experience: A minimum of 3 years experience in a clinicalsetting.
3. Licensure/Certification:
Licensedas a registered nurse in the state of Alaska.
Maintainsmandatory and required certifications.
4. OtherQualifications: Possess teachingability. Possess excellent communicationand organization skills. Demonstrate the ability to accept and implementchange. Show evidence of continuingprofessional growth; membership in professional nursing organization (in thearea of specialty) is required.
5. Attendance: Regular attendance,per hospital policy, is a requirement of this position.
6. English Language: Must be able to read,write, and speak English.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
